Meditation moment: Word play

What is scripture and is it really that important? Let's take a trip back to our childhood learning. A time where we learned a concept that shaped the modern world as we know it. The concept of the root word. A root word is a word to which other parts can be added, thus providing differing meanings. The word of God is the bread of life. We came forth from his word as we all walk different paths but are all part of a greater whole.

“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots”

Isaiah 11:1

When it comes to scripture, the root word is script. A script can simply be handwriting or in modern terms sheets of writing on which a movie is recorded. Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith so he is in essence our playwright.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:2

The root word script is also found in another word - prescription. Prescriptions are usually written by a physician. The one writing this could potentially hold your life in their hand. They hold the power to make you whole. Only one holds that power. Everything started from the scriptures. Don't believe me. Believe the scriptures.

“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”

John 7:38
