Psalm 119: Beth
Where do we go to make things right? In the house of God. Naturally, there are certain things we expect to find in our home. We expect to find family, love, protection, supply and good counsel. This plus much more is found in the house of God but the principle thing we find is God himself. The Psalmist blesses God's presence and asks to be taught. The word of God says a house is built through wisdom. When we come into the presence of God, we must first be ready to receive his wisdom.
“Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.”
Every house should be built upon a good foundation. That foundation is the word of God through Christ. After the foundation is laid, wisdom and understanding continues to establish that which we need to complete our house.
“That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”
2 Timothy 3:17
God has raised us up a spiritual house. The spiritual house is within as the Psalmist reminds us that we hide the word of God within our hearts. As the word gets into us, we are to mediate on it daily. Rejoice in the word that was given to us for it is the salvation of our soul. If you've ever left a house for a length of time it may take some remembering to find your way back. Love has called us back to abide where one may live forever.
“And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.”
Beloved, thank you for meditating on the word of God. Have a blessed day.
