No matter who you are or what religion you profess, we all have a desire for God. We have a God sized hole that we attempt to fill with things that just don't cut it. As I use LinkedIn as a platform, I’ll use the example of constant resume building. From year to year we constantly look to add a new skill to stay ahead of the competition. In "getting ahead" many lose sight of God in the process.
The further we drift from God, the more we begin to lean on our own understanding. Independence sounds good until you realize, like the Prodigal Son, that you can’t make it on your own. You may experience prosperity, but you’ll never truly prosper. Why? There’s still a gap between your reality and God’s reality for you. Picture throwing a rock in the ocean. Now picture how many rocks you would have to throw in order to fill that ocean. That’s how effective we are when we attempt to fill our voids with the things of the world. We gain satisfaction in the moment but quickly come to the reality of unfulfillment.
The very source of our being longs for God. If we long for him, it's only because he longed for us first. Imagine a God having the power to be anything and everything but he will still be your friend. Good news! There's no need to imagine.
Jesus Christ stands in the gap
He knows your worth even if you don’t see it. All he asks is that we come to him with what is in our heart.
The things you do out of a good heart that no one recognizes, God sees.
When you feel like your voice is falling on deaf ears, God hears.
No matter how far you fall, his arm is never too short to pick you up.
We may encounter times when others think little of us but be not discouraged. They have their own voids they are trying to fill. While some may trust in intellect as their savior, we place our trust in God. See his heart and know his heart. Have faith that his heart is too good to ever leave or forsake you.
Verses to read:
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
