We can either live as dust or the live the life of a Son. It may sound strange but it's a reality for most. From dust were we created but God made his creation upright. He desires to take us higher. Do we view ourselves as dust or what God called us to be?
Earth, wind and fire
When the wind blows, dust gets taken away with it. Sometimes never to be seen again. A Son, or human being, on the other hand can withstand the wind, even strong wind. It may get uncomfortable the heavier the wind blows but that Son still has a fighting chance. The Son is built to endure. The dust stood no chance.
When the rain falls, dust gets turned into mud and is washed away. A Son can stand in the rain. That Son may get sick for doing so but the Son still has a chance to recover. Again, the dust stood no chance.
When the heat rises, it can cause dust to rise into the air. That dust has control over itself and stays suspended as long as the sun stays hot. A Son can stand in the sun. The Son may get burned or even feel weary as the heat is turned up but the Son still has a chance to remain standing. Once more, the dust stood no chance.
Thank God for small mercies. The brightness of God's majesty is too great for natural eyes and the word of God is too powerful for most mortal men. Who can stand against a mighty God when our righteousness is but filthy rags before him?
“If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?”
Joy will come
Every new day starts with darkness. The dust represents our most basic level. The equivalent of breaking a compound down to the elements that created it. We can either stay as that dust or develop into something greater. In brick making, limestone (dust) interacts with water, heat and air to take it from dust to a finished product. The same three elements that caused havoc to the dust above, are the same elements that were needed here. Limestone is a rock naturally. So, from the rock, came dust and the result was a more perfect creation.
“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”
See how things change under the right conditions?
Beloved of God, be encouraged. Hope is not lost as long as God is God. He is that right condition.
The wind may blow but it's to blow the beam out of our eyes.
The rain may come but it's to wash away our sins.
The heat may increase but it's only to perfect us.
We may not understand God at times because his thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His ways are beyond our understanding. We see through a glass darkly. When we walk in agreement with God, he takes us from dust to a son of God. I pray that if you take anything from these words it's to trust in him. Live in grace, walk in peace and be blessed.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
